Assateague Island National Seashore is a 37-mile-long barrier island located off the eastern coast of the Delmarva Peninsula, where Deleware, Maryland, and Virginia meet. It is

famous for its beautiful beaches, birds, wild horses, and the Assateague Lighthouse. The barrier island has changed over the years with the movement of sand. It is currently owned by the National Park Service, Maryland State Parks, and the United States Fish and Wildlife  Service, all of whom have a vested interest in preserving the barrier island and surrounding sea.
